Is dropping my calculus class going to affect me?

Right now, I'm a high school senior and I'm taking a Calculus AB class at a local college. This is part of a program that was offered to me and its completely free so I don't have to pay anything to take the class.

I want to drop the class because I already have a feeling that I'm going to fail especially because I have to balance all my senior work as well. However, it's past the withdrawal date and apparently if I drop the class afterwards I get a "WU" which is averaged as an F.

I don't plan on going to the college that I'm taking this class at and I heard it stays on your college transcript but is this going to affect my college gpa in the future?

And is it better to get the "WU" or the "F"?

Ive never withdrawn from a class, I know in some states there are issues with withdrawing. Like its better to have a F then a W because you can only have so many Ws on a transcript or they wont let you graduate.

Surely you can do better than an F if you stick it out? It is early enough to get a C if you want to. Get extra help. Do all your homework.

I assume the WU would be better.

Quite possibly, I’m afraid.

But failing your calculus class would certainly affect you, and probably more severely. If you really think those are the only possible outcomes, I think you should withdraw.

Take the withdraw.

If you’re getting an F in community college Calculus I, you should probably reconsider the idea of going to college all together and consider something else.

If you don’t go to that college, it will not be factored into the new college’s GPA. However, graduate schools would see it.
