I mean for a typical Asian boy who is calm, understated, not so good at team sports, math-savvy, etc.

After reviewing some info on types of private school, it seems that the St. Grottlesex types are better for kids like mine rather than so called "Southern" types such as EHS(in Alexandria, VA)

Why so much skepticism on EHS? Seems a lot here saying it's for kids with family legacy tied to the school(and old money) and/or those who are national/state athletes.

Please be brutally honest! I won't be offended by any stereotypical comments.

EHS is very Southern, but I’m sure that there are plenty of students just like you as well. It will just be a different atmosphere than that of a New England boarding school.

That sounds like me!

But I don’t know why it wouldn’t be good, besides the stereotypically Asian parents always pushing for top 5.

Absolutely good from Asian boys (and girls), as well as other international students. The community is very welcoming and the 100% boarding aspect makes the sense of community more intense. Headmaster Hershey and Alumni office personnel traveled to Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Seoul this past February to visit families of current and prospective students and alumni. EHS is keenly aware of the challenges that international students accept when they choose to attend a US boarding school and they are have many outlets of support. You do not have to be from the south, nor a legacy, nor student athlete, to enjoy all “The High School” has to offer.
