Is entry level work experience important regardless of field?

I just graduated Uni and have received a bachelors degree in psychology and am now working full time as an advisor at a large international academy. I don't know what I want to do with my life but feel very, very lucky to be working. Very lucky. I would like to know however, if I don't choose to go the advising route forever will working an entry level position for a year or two be beneficial for another career? Or am I wasting my time?

Thank you CC.
