I am currently attending a University in Florida to acquire a B.S. in Psychology. I am in the process of seeking an internship/any valid undergrad experience to assist with the process of obtaining a job once I graduate. I plan on graduating next year (Summer '18). I hear of some students that have landed an entry-level/stable job pertaining to their major before graduation. Several advisors have mentioned that it should not be difficult to find an entry-level job with my major upon graduation, however, graduate school is always suggested for someone studying Psychology to eventually sustain a more sufficient income. I do plan on attending Graduate School for Social Work.
Currently, I am an administrative assistant at a Car dealership due to the flexible hours provided based on my full-time course schedule and just to pay my way through college. Luckily, I still reside with relatives. I did a bit of volunteer work in H.S., however, it is not necessarily applicable for someone intending to work in the Psychology field.
MAIN QUESTION: FROM WHAT I MENTIONED EARLIER, DOES IT SOUND AS IF I AM BEING LAZY WITH MY CURRENT PATH? IS THE INTERNSHIP NECESSARY TO LAND A DECENT JOB UPON/BEFORE GRADUATING WITH THE BACHELORS? Should I start my job search now? Internships are required for graduate students in order to graduate with the MSW and find a job.
I’m a bit antsy and would like some guidance. Thanks.
