I got accepted into ERC under a chemistry major. ERC was my fifth choice and I not sure if I should go to ucsd because ERC seems to be focused on humanities and such. Can someone please clarify for me?
The main difference between the colleges is the general education requirements. Every college is going to have GE requirements that require you to take some classes outside of your field, while some GE requirements will likely overlap with the classes you are already taking for your major. Not choosing a school because you don’t want to do their GE requirements is a valid consideration when choosing schools, but ERC’s GE requirements aren’t so drastically different from other colleges within UCSD that that should be the reason you don’t choose UCSD, if you would have been happy with UCSD if you had gotten into Muir or Warren. There will be many science majors in ERC, just like there are many science majors in any other college.
You can get an idea of what courses you would be taking as a chemistry major here: http://plans.ucsd.edu/roosevelt
Most of your courses are still going to be math and science courses, even as an ERC student.
