I applied early desicion to Franklin and Marshall college and got in (yay me) but then i started looking at this website called niche and it talkes about how f&m is preppy amd full of workaholics. Im an artsy creative passionate person i want to be in a college enviorment thay stimulates me that has creative passionate unique weird interesting people. Im kind of freaking out a lot. Does anyone who knows of or goes to f&m know how preppy the people are and how nice and interesting they are? From what i saw it seems like a great shool but what im hearing is freaking me out. Is there cliquiness to an extreme? Do you think i could find my people there?
Hey! I’m going to F&M this fall and I was wondering the same thing. I applied to many other small LAC’s but none as “preppy” as F&M. From what I’ve observed, there are artistically inclined students at F&M but they are far and few… That is one of the main issues I am worried about since I am not a very traditional person and have many obscure interests…Glad to hear there are others in the same situation! We should connect on Facebook.
F&M very sound program. Name brand.
My son is studying environmental policy. Classes are crazy hard, but he only has good things to say about his studies/profs. Lots to do on his track, including some art classes. Last we spoke he told me he was putting off the art classes because word on campus is they are intense. Forget the classifications (preppy, interesting and nice) be prepared to work hard. High school is worrying about ‘cliquiness’ - FandM is about cramming knowledge in.
I am a current freshman at F&M. I was also hesitant due to being on colleges niche but once I came in for a fly-in I realized that F&M was absolutely the school for me. The school has all sorts of different people and you being the creative and passionate person you are, you will definitely find people equally as creative and passionate! I for one have met so many silly and unique people in the short time that I’ve been here. I suggest coming down for a visit some time in April and seeing for yourself :).
Hi, WasianNinja! Could you please comment on the workload? Is it really that intense?
