Is Freshman year calculated into the final GPA?

Okay, so I have a 3.7 unweighted GPA and a 4.1 weighted GPA if you combine all 4 years of highschool.

Freshman Year: 3.33 unweighted
Sophmore Year: 3.44 unweighted
Junior Year: 4.0 unweighted/4.67 weighted
Senior Year: 4.0 unweighted/4.83 weighted

HOWEVER, if I only take the final 3 years of highschool into my GPA calculation then I have a 3.8 unweighted GPA and a 4.2 weighted GPA which looks MUCH better to colleges.

So my question to you all is, do colleges take Freshman year into the GPA calculation.

Yes, it all matters. However, 3.7 and 3.8 isnt a huge discrepancy… you’ll be fine. Maybe you can round up if the decimal places allows you to maintain accuracy? (ex: 3.76 can be considered a 3.8)

It depends on the college. Some don’t, but most do. At this point, it is what it is.

You need to relook at your calculations. You’re counting senior year as a full year when it’s only 1/2 (since the year is only half over). But skieurope is right that you have what you have at this point.

I have read that the UC schools, Princeton, Emory, and Stanford only use sophomore-senior grades in their GPA evaluation.

UC’s use 10-11th grades for GPA calculation.

Some schools don’t look at freshman year grades, but the ones that do put more emphasis on your sophomore and junior year grades, since they give a better indication of who you are.
