I noticed in my class people complain that Geometry is either really hard or really easy. The class for me is a breeze and I don't have to study for it which is a good thing. But some students complain and complain that the teacher makes it to hard and that their failing. But I can't understand how anyone can get below a B in that class, the gives extra credit for everything. She bends over backward to simplify the class and yet they get ****ed of when they fail and they refuse to raise their hands in class for help. And this is a person who did bad in Algebra, I am not a math person.

Anyway do you guys have people in your class who complain but don't try to find a solution?

this year I can’t really think of anyone complaining except me… marine science, BS class, teacher is a hippie who probably dropped acid in teh 60’s. The work is annoying and stupid, as a result I am failing the class because It’s annoying and It;s not worth the time. it;s also my first class so I’m usually to sleepy to do anything.

My gemoetry teacher had the most boring voice ever and every single day he would have a slide show up and he would read off the steps. It made me sooo tired I struggled to stay awake but did my best to pay attention in the first grading period and got an 86. The last three grading periods I got sick of it and just slept in class every day except for tests and I would just read the text book the day before the test and I made 95+'s the rest of the year ~_~

People heavily rag on my Calculus teacher because most of my class is failing (especially on the tests). It got so bad that one guy’s parent even sent in an angry letter to the school or something. Honestly, the teacher does what he can, but the material is not easy. It doesn’t help that most of the students in the class (and especially the school) don’t like to read the calculus book and actually learn the stuff themselves. Students who want to be spoon-fed everything generally either fail or underachieve from my observations.

^ I’m not in Calculas yet but I would like to point out that for Pre-Calc I have a crazy asian teacher who makes her class very hard. About a month ago there was a math test and I studied extremely hard and knew all of the material. I was working through the test at light speed (because her tests are ridiculously hard to finish in time) and understood all of it and I only finished half the test. Only two kids finished the test out of about 160 students across all class periods. The teacher told us during that day that we need to come during 6th period to finish our test. About 100 kids stormed into her room (there were 30 kids already in there to begin with) 6th period and its not a big class room or anything. She handed out the test to like 1/3 of the kids and they did the test on the ground all across the room so there was no walking room anywhere in the whole class room. She kicked out about half of the people who didn’t get a test and the rest she said to wait in the hallway for someone to finish their test. The class average for that test was a 50’ish >_>

I do however dislike the way this guy that sits two seats away from me brags about it being so easy.

teacher: We’re learning something a bit complicated, If you have any questions, just ask.
goes over instructions and notes
cocky student: this is easy
teacher: Well, I think it is fairly complicated. Class, I want you to try this problem on your own.
cocky student: wow, that was quick. That is sooo easy!

No one wants to hear about how you excell in geometry :b

geometry was the only “math” class I have aced in my life so far
so yeah, no complaints. but the class itself was kinda bs since the teacher loved me
for making my proof as long as possible
jesus, i remember doing this 44 step proof once (it was only around 20 in the book)

Proofs made me get a C for the year :(. The teacher graded so harshly that two missed decimals turned into an 80. I think it was because my handwriting was bad and she thought I said I hated her on this questionnaire, so she hated me for most of the year, and told her she misread. Turns out, I hated her anyway. ;

Going into geometry, I was super excited (ok, well, about as excited as you can be) because I’d heard it was soooo much easier than algebra. But guess what? Geometry caused me just as much pain, if not more, than algebra. I hated proofs, I hated all the stupid theories and corollaries, and I hated the fact that even though the formulas would be right in front of me practically begging to be used, I STILL had trouble.

Take my anecdote with a grain of salt, however. I always have been and continue to be hopeless at math.
