I'm not if I'm applicable for fin. aid, but since GWU is one of the msot expensive schools in the country, AND I have a sibling in another private institution, I was wondering if GWU were, in general, fairly generous with fin aid?
I've also applied ED.

Also, if you live abroad but are a US citizen, do they take into account the cost of living? (I live in the city with the 7th highest cost of living in the world).

They do not take into account the cost of living. A defect of the process, in my opinion.
With two kids in college, your chances are better for aid. They are not the most generous in terms of aid, as under 40% get financial aid, and they do not guarantee 100% aid met. About 80%, I believe. And lots of loans is what I hear. I also hear that they are very much into merit aid to help out those they really want, so your stats and desireablility for them is an important factor. I can tell you that I know a highly qualified young lady, (cousin's daughter) who has a very generous package though her demonstrated need was not that high at all. GW gave her by far the most money but she was also accepted to a number of top schools that gave her only about $5k in financaila aid which is what her need figure came out to be. The family regrets not having applied to BU, NYU and a couple like schools that might have come up with similar offers, as GW was the only school that was not a high reach (due to extreme selectivity) school other than her state school that she applied to. Those other schools had very high merit standard since even getting in is a serious issue at such selectivity levels, and there were also a number of schools that gave only need based money (such as the ivies). GW was a pleasant surprise and the runaway first choice with its excellent package. On the other hand, I have known kids who have not gotten full need met there and large loan and work study components of their need package, but they were not as well qualified as our cousin.

Check last years acceptance thread. Lots of kids got half tuition scholarships and I believe this is one school that if you have 3.8 college gpa or something you automatically get another scholarship
