I'm from a low income family and im going to apply for fafsa.
will my family income affect the admission decision?
anyone knows for sure if gwu is need-blind???

The GW admissions department evaluation and decision is suppose to be independent of your FA “need”. Now, that being said - GW is a private university and is very expensive. If your application came down to a close decision between you and a full-pay student. Who do you think GW would offer admission??

This is even more obvious for GT admission where you have to check on the admissions app whether you even intend to apply for FA or not. My “S” truly believes his colleague from his school was accepted to GT because his parents were wealthy and he needed no FA. Both he and ny “S” had very similar credentials.

However, don’t let any of the above dissuade you from applying if you can afford the app fee. You never know what you’ll be offered!!!

CJ

i’m still going to apply…but that’s depressing…

GWU was one of many colleges my son applied to for fall of 2010. They were very generous with their financial aid. In fact, they gave more in need based aid than any other school. And the cool thing about GWU (at least as of 2 years ago) is that they lock in your costs - you’ll never get less financial aid in future years, although they say they will adjust in your favor if your financial circumstances change. You an check their website to see if that’s still true.

really? they did?
i’ll check the website.

i have a question, did your son have really high sat/act scores and gpa?

He had 3.2 UW, 3.6 W, and 2080 SAT. But he had some pretty good and unusual EC’s.

oh ok thanks for the info!! :)

I have to agree with Pinot that GW is very generous and gave my daughter a nice scholarship. When d 2 applied, she also got a great offer but unfortunately enrolled in a different school but d 1 got financial aid in addition to the merit scholarship

ohh okay. I hope I get enough scholarships too…
thank you for the reply :)

its commonly said that the rich students pay for the poor students to attend… they definitely give out great need aid
