I want to major in Biology and I’m interested in biomedicine and biotechnology. However, I’m ALSO interested in having a minor in International Relations/Affairs. So the problem is that GWU offers a great political atmosphere but I’ve also heard that BU has great biomedical research in the area.
I was wondering which is a better university academically? Which school should I apply to based on my interests? Please help me out!
Why do you have to pick just one to apply to? Apply to both and see if you get accepted.
That said, just about any college in the country is more than adequate in terms of research opportunities as an undergrad . When you want to really delve into an area that’s when you get a PhD and devote full time to research. Undergrads taking part in research spend a few hours a week on it, not fulltime. Your willingness to work hard and your abilities will get you strong letters of rec, which in turn will help get you into a top PhD program for the corner of biotech you are interested in.
All this is to say that regardless of how sterling the reputation is for BU in biomedical research, you won’t be at a disadvantage if you attend GWU.
