I wil register for portfolio reviews for the Visual and Performing Arts. I want to major in Interior Design. I have to decide whether I want to do an in-perons portfolio review or a review of my works through the common application (you can do that through slide room). So does doing a review through Common app minimizes your chances?
Also, what are the statistics in accepting students for the VPA department?

My d has been looking at Syracuse. I’ve seen on other sites that they do value the interview (even though it’s not mandatory). You can set them up at satellite locations, not just Syracuse.

According to the presenter at the VPA info session we attended last month, your portfolio is heavily weighted–however, ultimately, the admissions office makes the final decision. He said that VPA students usually can get away with slightly lower GPAs than those in other Syracuse schools. But if you have a C- average and a 15 on your ACTs, it doesn’t matter how great your portfolio is–you won’t get in.

@lauriejgs Okay, I don’t anything to hide from Syracuse. My academics are good enough and so are my SAT scores. Only, thing that I should be worry about is competition from other applying artists; obviously I need artistic skills but hopefully they accept me because I do have the potential to increase my skills and am willing to.

@barcakid, you should definitely try to get up there and have your portfolio reviewed by one of the staff. It can be very helpful!
