I have 2 options. Go to u of minn or Iowa for 20-30 thousand or north Dakota state or another state school for about 14,000. Is it worth the extra money to go to a business school ranked in the top 50 or just save and go to an average school?

Bryan if you are asking me is it worth going to Minn or Iowa for 20-30K more per year vs North Dakota for business, I would say go to North Dakota.
I do have a question. Where are you from? If you are from North Dakota, you might be able to get instate tuition from these other schools through the “Midwestern Higher Education Exchange.” You can find out more by calling 612-626-1602

I believe taxguy is correct that North Dakota and Minnesota have reciprocity. But, in my opinion, I would go to the U of Minnesota (if you get into the Carlson school). I live in the Twin Cities, and I can tell you with complete certainty that Carlson will open up many more doors than UND or Iowa. If you plan on working in the Twin Cities, I would go Carlson. If not, it matters much less. And if you go to Carlson, you will have a better opportunity to land coveted summer internships, which could help you make up that tuition difference between the two schools.

If I just get accepted to Lib arts should I still go there, then apply to Carlson after sophomore year?

You could try that, but Carlson is getting far more competitive these days, so it’s more of a risk.

Work part time and go to the better school. That should even out the cost.
