Is GT more likely to accept females than males?

"Gender Breakdown: 70% Male / 30% Female"

?

I'm just curious..:P

no none will admit to it.

We go through this like once a month. Go look at the common data set. The admit rates for males and females are identical.

What about at MIT?

Do you think they would like to admit african american males more to white males??

The male/female acceptance stats are very similar. Females usually have higher GPAs and males usually have higher SAT scores.

I don’t have any stats to back any of these up, but based on people who post results here: I suspect that race does have an impact, but I haven’t seen any stats that prove or disprove that suspicion. There also seems to be a bias against internationals (internationals tend to require higher stats) but no bias for or against in-state vs. out-of-state students.

Well, this isn’t the MIT forum but yes, they do quite blatantly practice AA.

i see thank you Banjo

Male applicants 7,684
Male applicants accepted (Fall 2009) 4,475
Male freshman enrollment 1,771
Female applicants 3,748
Female applicants accepted (Fall 2009) 2,246
Female freshman enrollment 889

As I remember, there was a court case that forbade favoring females or race. My understanding is that they put a lot of emphasis on recruiting qualified URMs. Neither Tech nor UGA favor in-state.
