Is half-Japanese, half-Indian considered a minority?

I'm an international student. My mother's Japanese, and my father's Indian. I do look mixed.
Am I considered a minority? If so, am I an under-represented minority in universities? Will this help improve my chances in admission?

Do I still tick the Asian box, or can I tick the Other/Mixed box?

Thank you in advanced!

Both Japan and India are in Asia… But I didn’t know mixed was a choice, so.

Actually, on the common app, once you tick “Asian”, there’s a drop down menu for specification of what type of Asian you are. I’m pretty sure Japanese and Indian are both options for the drop-down, so I don’t think you can tick “other”.

But it’s up to you whether you want to identify yourself or not~

So am I able to multi choose in the drop down? Am I able to tick both Indian and Japanese?

Am I still a minority even though I come under Asian, and will it help my admission chances?

No, you are not a URM. Your chances will definitely not go up and if anything it’ll hurt you.

It’s not a common combination, but no.

First and foremost, Intl. applicants are not considered URMs no matter what their race/ethnicity.

Oh Okay thank you for clearing that up! :D
