I imagine one of the reasons why they decided to not accept transfer is because this year and next year will be the largest number of high school students applying for colleges, as such they'd probably end up having to plan for the future and in doing so that means less transfer spots will be available when those classes decide to enroll as freshman, and continue on into sophomore and junior years.

On their website it says "Harvard College will be unable to enroll any transfer students for the next two academic years, 2008-2009 and 2009-2010."

Do you guys think it will go on for the 2011-2012 year?

Umm. . .by your logic BK then I guess half of the threads on CC should be eliminated given that it's mostly always speculation what we do here. I was just asking what people on this thread though.

I sort of agree that half the posts on CC are frigging useless. Morons from across the world decide whether or not someone has a "chance", which seems to affect their self esteem and keeps them from applying. Oh please, most of these kids will never come close to sitting on a committee and they will continue to suck at life.

But BK's claim is a little too harsh and should only be used in chances threads.

I doubt they'll end it unless something happens. I, for some reason, believe Princeton will open theirs.

your right, i was too harsh and i am sorry. this process has gotten very frustrating, and the attitude in my posts has gotten increasingly negative

I think they might resume the transfer admission after the current dean/president has served his term.

It's just that this current dean is so f-up that he wanna do something dramatic to make the students (esp the transfer students) to remember him for.

The official word from Harvard was that they decided the dorms needed to be renovated and, therefore, they were not going to accept any transfer students for the next two years (all undergraduate students are required to live on campus).

According to a Harvard alumnus (probably graduated in the mid-70's), I was told they historically take very few transfer students and have on occasion not accepted any transfer students. This alumnus was, himself a transfer student.
