is harvard, yale, etc a match for anyone?

with well enough money, you can be a loser. it is not worthwhile if you get in without DESERVING IT !!!

What is a URM?

i dont exactly know what the letters stand for but URM refers to applicnts of minority
status- such as hispanics, native americans, and african americans

you are all a bunch a pessimists....

URM= Under Represented Minority

i am a politician fighting for the good of America

In terms of academic scores such as GPA/SAT I don't think anyone is a perfect match, even with a 1600/4.0GPA some people get rejected, however, there are people out there who are academic matches, ie: Doing extremely well in the USAMO/other academic competitions.

All the ivies look for people , not numbers, though your stats do play an important role

"Yes, that is true, but you dont have to be a rocket scientist to know that the President is an idiot!"

How in the world could you make such an ignorant comment. Obviously over half of the country voted for Bush. So do you think the majority of America is idiotic?

history has proven that there are more Republican voter turnouts than there of Democratic voter turnouts. i bet that if every single American voted, then Kerry would have beated Bush by a HUGE margin. Well, there's no use crying over spilt milk.

And yes, The truth hurts. America isnt developing, it is getting harmed under Bush.

As much as I agree with you, theres no point in making this a political debate.

I think these schools are matches for you if you are at the international level in some activity (IMO comes to mind.)

if u have the best recommendation letters, consider yourself in (provided that u also have pretty good stats)

a Rickoid would be an excellent match

yea you're definitely a match for these schools if your parents are willing to donate an international airport

people fail to realize that most of the 1600s that get rejected are those that have nothing else. a good number of students that score a 1600 are really bright kids but lazy as hell and didnt work in school, but since they got a 1600 (even with there 2.5 UW GPA and 0 ECs) they think they have a chance.

Out of the 1600s that apply to:

Duke - 100% get accepted
Stanford - 66
Harvard 53
Princeton -national low of 36%

callthecops. Where did you get that info?

from another thread.

anyone who goes to exeter or andover (bush went there, as did his father) has a shot at harvard, and, by the way, the sat have nothing to do with how smart you are, it's how hard you study. i know a girl who's iq is around 100, and she got a 1470 on the sat.

eh, i know tons and tons of people in my current school, old school, and various schools around my area that score 1400+ without studying, i don't think its how hard you study, it really is your reasoning and the quickness/sharpness of your reasoning...anywayz in terms of the original question asked, there are def. ppl who are matches for hyps etc, the examples given in this thread match mostly what i would say, esp the person who gave a perfect applicant characteristic, honestly there are many people that do have those characterstics..
