is harvard, yale, etc a match for anyone?

<p>"Yes, that is true, but you dont have to be a rocket scientist to know that the President is an idiot! </p>

<p>Plus, I believe that he cheated on the SAT. He's to dumb to score a 1200."</p>

<p>This is why you have to be careful calling someone an idiot...I believe it should be "too" dumb. I am not perfect, and I am sure you can search my posts and find tons of mistakes, but I don't go around calling people idiots. And as far as voter turn-out is concerned, If every single American voted, than a ton of the voters would be ignorant. If you don't show up to vote, than your opinion counts for nothing! And notice I did not inject any political biases or arguments into this post, just stated the obvious...without the use of excessive rhetoric.</p>

<p>xingdianx, you are partly right. Many students never really prepare for the SAT and ace it. But students who study and prepare for the test can improve their score substantially...if they do it right. The SAT is part of the East Coast culture. Schools drill it into their students and most parents are willing to pay big bucks for prep courses. I have not seen that kind of commitment to the SAT in the South, Midwest or even West Coast.</p>

<p>yea, i concur</p>

<p>Well the fact the Bush is an idiot is obvious. America is better of with a Kerry being president!</p>

<p>Plus, I do not care what your opinions are. The fact is that Bush is ruining America and thanks to him, American has no international friends. You know it as well as I.</p>

<p>Please dont be ignorant and support Bush for the sake of it.</p>

<p>The first debate between Kerry-Bush clearly shows that Bush is a a*****e</p>

<p>Sometimes when I have a hard time putting my thoughts together and making intelligent remarks, I too post three times in a row. I learned that if I slowed down and typed my posts on Word first, than my posts were a lot more effective (and lacked nonsense). Maybe you should try this. You are correct that Kerry did a much better job than Bush in the debate, and for that I applaud him. Way to go! Now I admit that politics is all gray, and there is really no correct answer, and that is why I don’t condemn you for supporting Kerry, but rather I am astonished by the ridiculous nature of your posts. I will say you have taught me something. I used to believe that teenagers were too apathetic towards politics, and that more teens needed to get out, vote, and express their opinions. You have taught me otherwise, and for that I applaud you. Way to go!</p>

<p>You are right, there is no right answer to politics. But there are wrong answers - and Bush being president is one of them. Of course i am very involved in politics. Thanks to that Bush, thousands of people of dying. There are more terrorists after 9/11 than before 9/11 and that's thanks to Bush. I am surprised that highly educated people like you still support him. People are dying and for no good reason. Please Try to understand That !!!!</p>

<p>Omg, people are dying and you are saying that im talking nonsense! No wonder why Bush is still president.</p>

<p>well, back on topic, I think you give the precious ivies far too much credit. </p>

<p>2,095 (10%) people were admitted to Harvard in 03.
1,601 (10%) at Princeton.
2,014 (11%) at Yale.
1,735 (16%) at MIT.
2,343 (13%) at Stanford.</p>

<p>I know that that is not <em>a lot</em> of people, but it's definitely not "make mother theresa look bad." Oh, and about the whole "well, most of those people weren't matches" argument, those schools obviously thought that they were.</p>

<p>It's so depressing to see this incessant deification of HYPSM.</p>

<p>i'm a Republican and i would say that Bush is probably not that smart...but leadership qualities are far more important for the Presidency than SAT scores...</p>

<p>To the person who said about athletes:
Our school's star running-back just got into Yale, to play football. He's not a dumb kid though, top 20% i believe. </p>

<p>Our valedictorian is also headed to yale. his stats i believe are 1510, 4.288 gpa</p>

<p>Leadership? Obviously leadership is crap if it leads to thousands of deaths for no reason.</p>

<p>It could be if 5 of 7 of the following circumstances are present:
-legacy
-under-represented minority
-perfect GPA
-officer in at least 4 clubs at school
-work experience
-great essay
-connections</p>

<p>i agree with wrathofachilles</p>

<p>Guess laterdaysluke has nothing to say as he knows that Bush is up to no good.</p>

<p>Primitivefuture if you live your life espousing such simple one-sided drool, you will have, well, a primitive future. George Bush's IQ is above average, but his verbal and social abilities are below average. They, of course, only form part of one's IQ. IQ is measureable by a test, including the SAT, especially back when Bush took it (it still correlates with intelligence, however). </p>

<p>IQ:
The ratio of tested mental age to chronological age, usually expressed as a quotient multiplied by 100. Nothing more.</p>

<p>I don't support Bush on alot of things, but to fly to a single party would make me feel much like a pawn, and that is something that would basically invalidate my life. Still, I detect a bit of trolling and sarcasm in your posts, so I might be taking it too seriously...:p.</p>

<p>match for saxophone playing, on armed, straight A, perfect SAT scoring first generation URM with a mental disability and a reccomendation from god.</p>

<p>I apologize for my delayed response. Please forgive me. I lament that I have very little to say in response to your posts, but since you seek my feelings regarding your post, I will oblige and comment. This post was made with great difficulty because you have not provided me with anything new which deserves reciprocation. You have given the same rant about Bush being a moron, an idiot, ruining America, an a*****e (notice I used the correct article “an”), and he is killing thousands of people. How am I supposed to make an intelligent response to that? People have different views on the war and other issues and there is room for debate, but debating implies the use of logical arguments and not unjustified statements that just sound foolish. I can understand why you support Kerry and disagree with all things Bush, but your attempts at provocation have been unsuccessful. I don’t sit and argue with a parrot.</p>

<p>hi,
i juz want comments on my chances.
i am an indian girl but been studyin in singapore for over 6yrs.
my sat scores is 1570 (800 verbal n 770 math).
my sat2 score is 800 physics, 770 math2C, but i screwed writing 670 and since i sat for dec'04 no time to retake..
other academic, well till sec sch(olevel/10th grade) i had i guess pretty gd record as i was valedictorian, top student Olevel in school and top for Eng lang, math and eng n chem at during sec3 (9th)
Olevel grades: 6A1s n 2A2..A1 in Eng, Hindi, Emath, AMath, Phy, Chem ( i did nto take olevel Bio however took it up at alevel)
A2 for Geography and combines Humanities (Social st + lit)
for Hindi as well i was prize winner throughout due to 1st position but only in my class... my cca were Red Cross (i ws co- chairman and at rank of staff seargent) as well as drama n debate..
as for JC (11th n 12th),unfortunately I slacked a lot and was not serious about studies till last minute. My grades were just so-so around B or C mostly.. obviously now i wish i had worked hard in JC...)
I did last minute cramming for Alevels.
my sub for Cambridge Singapore Alevels were C Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, General Paper (GP), Hindi ( i scored A1 as hindi results were out last yr) .
I am also taking Spaper for chem(somewhat equal to US honors paper) however, i have very low hopes for hitting even a merit for that now though i have heard US hardly takes in consideration Spaper.. my cca have been Cricket (the only jc with girls team) and i am vice-capt, indian cultural society, CT REP (class monitress). Unfortunately i was not serious enough in yr1 (11th) to sign up for any of the olympiads.
I do volunteer work at a nationaly recognised community group SINDA. I did not work in summers last year ( i doubt it is a valid excuse but most singaporean studnets in my opinion generally do NOT wokr in summers, only at end of O or A level when waiting for results).however now i have a job at NUS (natl' uni of singapore). I do research type of work, more specifically data collection on variety of topics.
I am not to sure how gd my recommendation reports will be , i know they wont really be negative but not sure how glowing and as for my essays, i have received mixed results. My GP teacer beleived it to be good however not all found it convincing.
I have applied for MIT, Harvard and UPenn...[why! oh why!]. I know it is a really long shot specially after reading about people with much bttr academics and ECAs but still were rejected however, some did not have very impressive records but stil made it.
So i am hoping for comments.Hope they are not too scary :P as i am already a nervous wreck with GCE Alevels results due in 2 weeks time..
thnx</p>
