I am currently in IB diploma program and am VERY VERY frustrated at the fact that US universities do not really give credits that IB deserves..when IB diploma rogram is so much more rigorous and harder than APs...

And.. for all those who have gotten every IB result, are you guys all senior??
In our school, junior is supposed to have taken only 2 SL classes IB tests by the end of the year and then take 3 HLs and 1 SL test the next senior yr.
So i have only two SL classes results posted online..

OUr school is barely starting IB program,, which is EVEN MORe frsutrating because we have such a so limited range of classes to take.
i had to go thorugh so many struggles with my counselor to drop IB but she won't let me. :(

I am having doubts about how much IB really worth in college admission.

Yes, those of us with our diploma results have graduated.

I think IB was worth it. If you are only doing it because you want it to help you get into college or get college credit, DROP OUT. If that's the case, then no, it isn't worth it. IB does, however, teach you how to think, how to study, how to write, how to analyse, in a way AP classes don't require you to. This is why it is worth it. What you learn in IB will absolutely help you do better in college once you get there...but if you're applying to US schools, it isn't going to get you in and it probably (there are a few exceptions) isn't going to get you an amount of credit representative of the work you've done.

Yeah, ok, I've thought on this for a bit, and here's what I think.

IB prepares you, yes. But, if you're stupid, you won't become smart. If you're smart, you're not going to get much smarter. It's just kind of a work-ethic catalyst. I think if you are confident in your intelligence, there's nothing wrong with taking rigorous-enough courses at the community college and then assimilating into a college that way. Four years is a long time, and the first year is probably enough for you to pick up any work habits that you need. Plus, you can get credits from community colleges, and your choices of classes are clearly much more diversified. However, I must say that IB has presented me with a lot of great experiences, and I'm kind of proud to hold the paper in my hand that says "Diploma Awarded" or whatever. It's good stuff, but ... worth it? Meh, I'll go think so more.

just graduated full ib, glad i did it. i know colleges love to see you taking the hardest courses available to you, and here in washington state just being in IB is practically free admission to UW, which is a pretty good school.

ib was good for me because it wasn't easy and therefore wasn't boring.
