Is interview required?

No, but it is strongly recommended. This is addressed on the school’s web site.

I’m positive my interview drastically helped me get in to Smith. I strongly recommend it. smith accepts people, not numbers. They want to see your personality.

I didn’t do an interview(none in my area) and got STRIDE, so don’t worry too much about it

My D has already applied RD and doesn’t want to do an interview–they make her nervous. Smith said it was not required and that she shouldn’t worry about it. They were very nice on the phone. But you should give them a call.

It’s not required, but it can help you if you chose to do it. My interview was very relaxed and informal. Didn’t dress up, met at a tea shop, and just talked about books I’ve read and how high school could be better and what Smith could offer me. I actually had two interviews; one at the beginning of my Junior year and then one at the beginning of my Senior year.

They’re not required, and I don’t think it will make a huge difference if you do one or not. It’s good to give them as many data points about yourself as possible, so an interview can help you, but if you don’t want to do one or it’s a hardship for you to do one that won’t hurt you that much either. They’re nice, but I wouldn’t put too much emphasis on them.
