I'm considering getting a single subject credential. But I heard they're not really hiring teachers in California. Is this true?

I think it would depend on the subject you want to teach. Don’t want to scare you off, but I would assume it’s hard to get a teaching job in CA with bigger class sizes and budget cuts.

A friend of mine got a bachelor’s in English and her Master’s in education, I think. She’s been out of school for quite a while. More than a couple of years I believe. However, she still can’t find a job. Occassionally a substitute job, but not much else. She’s probably one of the few people who I would trust to teach and actually do a good job at it. It’s just hard these days. To stay afloat, she’s been working other random jobs.
