is it a bad idea to go to cmu if...

im undecided as to what i want to major in...right now im in school of science...but im thinking of doing phycology or even something else...im really not sure

so is cmu flexible or is it a bad idea for my situation

im heavily considering it now that they gave me 18000 financial aid...which is so far more than any of my other schools

If you're undecided, that's excellent for CMU...they love people to dabble in various fields. If you come here, they will pound "interdisciplinary collaboration" into your head. CMU is strong in a lot of areas, so it is not at all a bad idea to go to CMU if you're in that situation.

Totally agree with ThinkDifferent. You start with a blank slate and build it up to whatever interests you. This is why even focused majors like business requires dipping in other fields by making kids have science requirements, programming requirements, econ requirements, etc.

oh wow you guys made me feel alot better!!!

plus before i was like do i really want to pay 45 thousand a year when i dont even know what im doing...but now that i only have to pay like 27 or something like i feel ALOT better...and maybe i could bagger financial aid office for more money? lol...i doubt theyd give me though

I would say go somewhere else. many of cmu's programs are quite intensive, and if you are undecided it may take extra time to graduate. however, if you know what college you want to be in (say humanities and social science but unsure if you want to major in english or history) then you'll be fine. CMU does offer collaborative degrees, which is something you might want to consider however if you start here as a CS major then decide to do art or something that would be much harder. CMU is not known for its broad liberal arts programs, but rather intense specialty

You want to study algae, morgan? I don't think CMU is very good in that area. ;)

kap probably got his views because he is in drama (ie: he's crazy :)). You can definitely come here undecided (unless you are in drama).
