I am sure it gets pretty hectic and busy during Orientation week at Cornell...but I believe I am coming to visit on the Saturday of Orientation since this is my only option.

Is it going to be difficult to visit then because of all the people or is this actually a better time to visit?

Umm i would suggest visiting the school when the academic year starts. That way, you can visit the classrooms, visit the dining halls, and observe everyday student life.

hmm I really wish I could. However, that is the last weekend before school starts, and it’s really going to be difficult for my family to fly out to NY during the school year since I am from the midwest. Plus we already kinda booked our tickets…lol.

well i guess u can still experience the new-student orientations. I think the only students that will be on campus is the new students and transfer students.

^hmm thats what i was worried about. i guess nothing more can really be done. and no we arent staying in a hotel, we’ll actually be driving up from philly.

Well it’s a pretty time of year. Just map out what you really want to see … there will be lots of people directing lost souls around! If you can find the Orientation website, you’ll find out what is going on for orientation while you are there …

It says registration is not required on the website. I will also be attending the ILR information session. AHHH now im freakign outtt! Are there no tours during O-week or something? I already booked my tickets!

Well yeah, we’re visiting a few other schools on the east coast at the time, but Cornell is getting higher and higher on my list so I really want to visit that now to determine if i should apply ED or not.

So basically we’re driving from philly to cornell. I’ll be in the area for a total of four days, but all four days it will be orientation week so it won’t really make a difference which day i go i guess. On the website I just registered for the ILR session on August 21st too at 2:30 and it didn’t say that I can’t attend or anything, and since no reservations are necessary for campus tours…im hoping ill be okay!

It will still be nice, don’t worry. Also, there won’t only be new students there. Orientation is a huge week for us Cornellians because it’s a week at Cornell without the commitment of classes so it’s a really fun week and many students go back for it. It’s also probably the week when Cornellians are most open about helping strangers because we are absorbing new people into the school. Even if it isn’t the prime time to go sit in a classroom to observe, it’s still a great time to get to know people and you can probably even get into some of the info sessions. It’s also a very sunny and nice part of the year so it’s a great time to be around Ithaca and the gorges.
