Is it a disadvantage to write about animals in college essay?!

I am very passionate about animals and I will do anything for their good.
if i talk about that and the admission ppl dont like animals, would it be bad?
is it a risk???
i mean what if they hate animals haha :D

Is it a disadvantage to write about math in college essay?! I am very passionate about higher level math, but if i talk about that and the admission ppl happen to be into the humanities and don’t like math, would it be bad? would they hold it against me because I said I like math?
i mean what if they hated math haha.

 Of course they wouldn’t hold it against you, even if the person happens to not like animals. If each admissions officer only picks the people who are just like him/her, then they wouldn’t be creating a very diverse class, would they :)?

who the heck doesn’t like animals?

The only risk is if you don’t have much depth to your essay. Talking about how you love animals is fine and good, but you need to be able to couple this general sentiment with some discussion of what you’ve actually done. So, if your topic is your love for animals and you talk about your work at an animal shelter, or raising seeing eye dogs, or volunteering for PETA, etc., then that’s great because it shows that you are involved and passionate about a subject. But, if the whole thing is just about how you love animals, and can’t point to anything that you’ve actually done, then it will come across as pretty weak.

^Basically everything he said above…you also need to show your passion and honesty when writing your essay. Honesty will make you stand out, while passion shows your dedication and commitment towards a college.

GurufiBrian is on point. If you write a straightforward essay about how much you love rubbing your dog’s belly and then playing frisbee with him, the issue isn’t that you like animals. The issue is that you will come off as superficial, simplistic and possibly immature. No one would penalize you for liking animals. They’d penalize you for writing a bad essay. And bad essays, no matter what subject they concern, are always, well…bad essays.

lol you guys made me laugh so bad… of course I know all that… :D
