To go to Duke University would be a dream!! It's my first choice school and I would really love to go there. The thing is, I'm not sure whether I'm good enough. Everyone here seems pretty intelligent, so tell me the truth!! ;) I don't feel like writing an essay, so I'll just make a list...

So, do you guys think I have a chance??? Or will my horrible tests scores just kill me?? They've always been my weakness!! ;O

Your SAT is pretty low, so I suggest retaking it.

But to be honest, I really don't see anything special about your resume. Adcoms want to see commitment in a specific area, not just a bunch of random accomplishments and clubs.

I think you have a solid chance but I wouldn't be too giddy.

I'm really not sure if it's weighted or not...what exactly does that mean? Ahh..and thats that bad part...i can't retake my SATs bc i've already had to send in my app

it's not about whether or not you're good enough, it's about whether or not your resume is good enough. right now, it's not. Duke is HUGE on test scores, no white girl without a hook is getting in with your scores

My brother was an all-round strong applicant with 2200 SAT and 800s for all of his SAT IIs. He was waitlisted at Duke, eventually accepted and is there now :) I'd say definitely raise the score, they're big on scores (not sure if this reply post is too late though?) Otherwise, it is kinda hard for them to accept 1850... they're getting 2300s these days... (I'm just a 2150 but am hoping like mad. lol.)

K thx guys! And yes, my GPA is definitely unweighted..I got H's in all of my AP/Advanced/College Prep Classes...So I'm guessing it's a 4.0+.
I also applied to: Cornell, Ohio State, Johns Hopkins, Wake Forest, Washington University in St. Louis, and Case Western..What about those?

First of all, not to beat a dead horse, but you'll want to get the SAT at least above 2000 to have a decent chance.

Second, it seems there's a bit of emphasis on soccer. See if you can get your coach to write an optional rec (on top of the 2 teacher recs) that shows commitment to the sport.

Of course you should still try to send one. What's the worst case scenario? They don't look at the recommendation. You really have nothing to lose.
