Is it alright for transcripts to arrive late?

I submitted my common applications for early actions today, and I realized I wanted to apply to other schools too.
This is last minute decision, and the transcripts won’t be sent to the colleges for few days.
Would it affect my application a lot?

Depends on the school.

Probably not a problem. Most schools just require that your application arrive on time. Your transcripts, teacher recs, etc…are not under your direct control, so your application will just be incomplete until they arrive. If you are concerned, contact the school and explain that you submitted your application on time, but some of the other materials are delayed. They will tell you how they handle it.

It’s definitely a problem some places. I remember when I applied for Texas A&M, I submitted my application WELL in advance of the deadline (like a week). However, my transcripts were not produced and mailed until the day of the deadline (Not my fault, my community college took more than their suggested wait time for transcripts). They didn’t get there in time, and the admissions office adamantly refused to look at my application since not all the materials got in by the deadline.

Thus, you need to be careful–it didn’t matter that my transcript materials were postmarked by the deadline. It needs to be in their hands by the end of the workday on the deadline.
