<p>I had my Yale interview today, and overall it was exceptional. We had a great discussion for about 2 hours. However, he asked some strange questions. He specifically asked for a list of other colleges I applied to, where I applied ED, and why I applied to them. He wrote down these lists and made specific note of the reasons why I applied there. Does anyone else find this strange?</p>
<p>No, not really, as all such questions are fair game. Did you say Yale was number one?</p>

<p>Yes. This is out of the ordinary, and while I find it unlikely that this will make it into the report he sends to Yale, I’m unsure why he might request (and record) this information. Perhaps for his own interest, but still - if you feel uneasy about it, you should contact the Yale admissions office or the local Yale alumni club (that’s usually the body that organizes interviews) inquiring politely and non-accusingly about these questions.</p>
<p>Alumni interviewer here. I believe there are specific instructions in the interviewer handbook not to ask an applicant where else he or she has applied. I’m not sure it rises to a reportable offense, but it’s not supposed to happen.</p>
<p>My S’s Yale interviewer also asked him where else he applied. It wasn’t awkward for him though as he applied through Questbridge which restricted his ability to apply early to any other schools.</p>
<p>My Harvard interviewer asked this as well.</p>
