Hello!
I just got a call today from a Columbia alumni to schedule an interview; however, he gave me the address to his house and said we would meet there..Is it normal to have an interview at his or her house? Should I be worried at all? Or maybe I'm just paranoid... Help! Thanks:)

Haha, he’s not going to do anything weird I think it’s quite normal, tbh.

I wouldn’t worry. There are some Columbia interviewers who are not serial killers. If you’re really terrified of going to this total stranger’s house all alone by yourself where no one can hear you, then call the college and see if they can schedule something in a more neutral setting. I don’t know about Columbia in specific but many colleges are accomodating of reasonable concerns such as yours.

Haha, thanks.
I sent an email to the admissions office juuuust to confirm that he was my interviewer:)

My Yale interview is at the guy’s house. :P

Ahh cool cool, good luck!

My Penn interview was at the guys house. Good luck!

My brother had an MIT interview at the interviewer’s house.

I’m an interviewer; I had interviews at my house for more than 25 years until a few years ago when I realized it made some students uncomfortable.

My neighbor used to be an interviewer and he always had the students come to his house. He had a home office he used for interviews
