Is it bad if I don't take Physics in Highschool?

Because of scheduling conflicts at my school, I haven't been able to take Physics. I'm a rising senior, top ten percent 4.14 weighted 3.75 unweighted, taken all honors freshman and sophmore year, and my junior year I took AP Stats, AP Lang and Comp. and AP Bio. This year I'm taking AP Chem. AP French AP Calc BC AP Lit and Comp. and also AP Pyschology. Will not taking a Physics course hurt my chances of getting into college? I'm hoping to go to UW- Madison with Northwestern as a goal school. I got a 29 (taking again in september) and I have numerous extra curiculars with 150+ hours volunteering, oh and reccomendation letters.

I have basically the same problem except with chemistry, I took AP Physics and AP Bio

But idk if not taking chemistry/physics is going to hurt admission

It will not, in my opinion. As long as you have the most “rigorous” schedule, not taking physics won’t matter

Thanks! I didn’t think it would, and my counselors assured me it wouldn’t, but I wanted to double check.

I have the same issue and I’m glad it wont hurt; I have set my mind on AP Bio this year lol (I took AP Chem last year)

The only thing that really makes this hard is that I want to go into science for my major ( specifically Biology) … so if I need to take Physics in college, I’m at a disadvantage. Oh well, it’s called studying and get a tutor.

Does the AP Psych class meet a school-specific requirement? Can physics be substituted? As a science major, it will, indeed be helpful to have a basis in physics, but you are being proactive. Perhaps you can take a physics class next summer before matriculating.

I dont know if University of Wisconsin will care, but a top tier school like Northwestern will expect that you have taken Physics. Especially if your majoring in the sciences

Really? Of course I can understand why, it is an extremely competitive school, but it’s not a question of me not choosing to take the class, I’ve tried to get in for two years. The reason I can’t is do to scheduling conflicts at my school.

You should take the “core” classes (Physics-Chemistry-Biology), before you take the “fluff” classes (Environmental Science-Physcology-Statistics).

What courses conflicted with physics?

I don’t plan to take physics either. Most of the kids in my class is taking AP Biology and AP Chemistry so there is no room for physics.
