Is it bad to graduate from a "lesser school?"

I went to an “elite” school out of high school, took 2 medical leaves, and ended up at the university closest to home taking classes that transfer into my program I originally started in. I’m 3 12 credit semesters away from graduation, and I’m transferring back into the university I started in this fall.

I hate the university I started in, and love the one I’m at now. I kind of want to finish out here, but I feel like it’s stupid to leave a “good” school for a “lesser” one.

I think the bigger question here is that you’ll have transferred twice. To me, that would just come off weird on transcripts. I think you should go to the school that you’re happy with.

It depends a lot on your ambitions - if you’re interested in a field where undergraduate pedigree matters (like finance) then graduating from a lesser ranking school will impact career prospects; however, if you’re interested in other fields (or graduate school like medicine), your undergraduate performance matters a lot more than “where” you went to school so long as your “lesser” school isn’t some for profit degree mill.

I’ll probably end up back at my “elite” school, as it seems like a waste to do otherwise:/

No I didn’t transfer twice SusieAnne, I stayed student status/technically “enrolled” at my first school while being a guest student for a year at another school but only taking degree requirements for my first school. It doesn’t look too weird, and it happens all the time. It’s not much different than taking summer classes at a community college and transferring them over.

What are the universities and what is your major?
