My friend was offered a place on the waitlist. Santa Cruz is her absolute first choice. From my understanding if she appeals and its denied then she loses her place on the waitlist. Does anyone know the success rate for appeals? What would be the best thing for her? She had a bit of a downward trend because of excruciating family circumstances.
I looked at last year’s thread and several people said they appealed, lost the appeal, but remained on the waitlist and then were accepted off the waitlist, even though the appeal was denied. This was my concern too, since my son is waitlisted, SC is his top choice and we have some grounds to appeal off the waitlist. But it does not seem like there is a penalty for appealing
@cohenapple Really? That’s a relief. If there’s nothing to lose then I don’t see why not to appeal.
I haven’t confirmed that with the school but that’s what it says on the 2016 thread. I also know the mom of a current student who was on waitlist last year, appealed got it, but not sure if from appeal or after from waitlist but I’ll be talking to him when he’s home from spring break
My daughter wrote an appeal last year, it was denied, but she was then accepted off the waitlist. So, there is no penalty for writing an appeal and you will still stay on the waitlist regardless of the decision. She was notified that her appeal was rejected but then found out about the waitlist a few weeks later. She’s now a proud Banana Slug!
curious when you found out about waitlist after losing appeal – was it June or earlier?
