Hi so last night I was waitlist at UCSC, which is undoubtedly my first choice.
My GPA was a 3.6 weighted (I had a 4.0 my junior year but messed around to much my sophomore year which screwed my GPA over [obviously I'm not going to include this in my appeal]).
My SAT and ACT is where I'm mostly looking to win over the appeal.
I got a 26 on my ACT and a 1610 on the SAT (31 in ACT math and 610 SAT math)
I know I could do better but I never had enough time to finish a single English section all three times I tested.
My reason for appeal would be that I have dyslexia. I am able to manage it in school perfectly fine but when I am timed that's where things go wrong). I never had time to contact collegeboard or the ACT people and request special testing (which would have allotted me more time).
My question is since obviously I was very close to being admitted would UCSC, or any college as I was also waitlisted at SDSU (my second choice) consider this a valid reason to accept me.

Ask your question to Ms Sun on Ask Fm Ms Sun. It might have already been answered there so look at old posts. She also does consult for hire if you really want to get in and she has even posted an example appeal letter on her blog. She also has the stats for appeals received vs appeals admitted for each UC on her blog. Check it out.

i was also placed on the wait list and also appealed. have you hard anything back yet? @spencerjc93

My S also appealed his waitlist status; we have not heard anything yet…

I was waitlisted too but didn’t appeal, hopefully it goes similar to last year as they admitted everyone off the waitlist. They even let people know as early as end of April. Are you supposed to find out about appeals this week? Good luck to you all!

Yea, appeals come out this week, but I still haven’t heard. I hope it’s like last year as well. Thanks, and good luck to you too! @chs2014

Comment when you hear back from them!

@chs2014 the appeal didn’t work:/ I’m still on the waitlist. Hope to hear something soon! Have you heard anything? @spencerjc93 @grudger

How do you know it didn’t work and that you have yet to hear? Last year they let people off the waitlist around this weekend and I heard of one who already got off this year.

@chs2014 they sent me a letter saying that they still couldn’t offer me admission, but I’m still on the waitlist and will hear back no later than mid may. And On my portal it just changed from ‘we are considering your appeal’ back to’thank you for opting to be on the waitlist’ I really hope we hear something soon
