How long does it take for an appeal to get through and back?

I believe you can only appeal rejections, and those have small chances of working. The best thing you can do is submit your deposit to another school instead of just waiting for UCSC. There’s probably a good chance UCSC will have a higher yield this year…which will definitely affect your chances of getting off the waitlist.

Regardless, I’m sorry to hear about this. I wish you the best and I’m sure you’ll end up soemwhere you will love.

I thought you could appeal from waitlist or rejection as long as you don’t try to appeal from rejection to waitlist, still waiting on other schools but UCSC was my first choice so might as well try to appeal if I can :I

Generally, you can not appeal a waitlist decision. You can only appeal rejections. Thus, you will have to wait it out. If you do not get in off of the waitlist, then you can appeal. I am sorry to hear that you were not accepted, however do not use this decision to evaluate your self worth.

Wow I so read that wrong…lol I read it as “however do use this decsion to evaluate your self worth” and was thinking, wow that was straight forward.

“If you have new or compelling information that pertains to your application, you may appeal the decision, whether or not you are on the waitlist.” dunno, I’ll probably go on the waitlist regardless

It’s essentially if you have any addition (and new) information to provide (that you didn’t already provide) .

I do though o_o more than just grades; got 2nd place in a state comp and i’m going to another one on sunday

If you feel like it’s enough evidence (and are determined to follow through with the appeal) then go ahead and do it. Best of luck!

@BananaSlug10 and vulpesinculta. Both of you are completely wrong please stop spreading false information about not being able to appeal if you are on the wait list. If I would have listened to you two last year I probably wouldn’t be going to ucsc right now. I was put on the wait list and submitted an appeal. Around April 15 I found out they had accepted me. OP if you want to go to UCSC submit the appeal, you lose nothing and if you are lucky it might just work.

If you have a legitimate issue to appeal such as disability issues, hardship not previously reported you can appeal whether on the wait list or rejected.

@BananaSlug10 Yeah I’m probably going to send the appeal on tuesday since I’m going to a competition on sun/mon. Does it always come back around april 15 or do they do rolling appeal acceptances? And if they deny it do you know if I’ll still be on the waitlist (I assume so)

@SadlyEpic Please re-read what I posted. I stated that you are able to submit, but they they usually only work when you have new information to provide. (as hitdoghowls stated)

@LeafMeAlone They usually come around the 15th sometimes a bit earlier, sometimes a bit later but it really depends.

Did anyone got off the waitlist last year??

^ probably

Did any1 receive an email response when they emailed to put themselves on the waitlist? I sent an email a little while ago and haven’t gotten anything back

any1? bump10char

It just changed after reading your response, thanks! I thought maybe the email got lost or I sent it to the wrong place.

I sent my waitlist acceptance on the 15th, and it has been 5 working days but my portal has not been updated. Should I just wait a bit more, or should I email them? Also, is getting off the waitlist on a first come first serve basis? (Whoever emailed first?), or is it based on stats? Thanks ;D

Maybe try to wait a little longer? The deadline is April 15 to put yourself on the waitlist so you have some time before you have to call. Pretty sure it’s based on merit.
