Is It Better to Send in AP Test Scores?

I’m curious to know whether or not one can not send in their test scores when applying to colleges. I have a feeling that I will not do well on most of them, and do not want to send in bad scores, since it will hurt my application, as admission officers will think my grades are inflated. Are we required to send AP test scores?

Usually you don’t send AP test scores until you are actually matriculating at a school. There is a place to self-report them on the Common App. You are not required to send AP test scores.

Schools vary on how they accept AP credit. Some schools don’t accept AP credit, some use it for placement, others may give you credit for introductory classes.

The public university where I worked gave credit for scores of 3 or above. The private LAC where my D attended only gave credit for a score of 5, and didn’t accept every AP subject.

Exactly. Sending in an official score report with your application is just a waste of money.

AP score report is typically forwarded to the registrar office instead of admission office.
