Assuming I’ve self reported my best AP scores on my common app to Yale & a few other ivies, if I’m admitted am i required to send official score reports for credit? I have some not so good AP scores that I wouldn’t prefer sent out hence why I’m not including them in my application, however, do the schools require official score reports be sent prior to registering for classes, or can I just opt out and not receive AP credit?
Thanks!
You can certainly opt not to send scores. Additionally, you can choose to withhold scores (for a price.) But here’s the thing - the AP score report goes directly to the registrar’s office for credit processing. The clerical processing them will not care if you had some low scores, not is it likely you will ever meet him/her.
My advice is to send all scores to the college you will be attending. Even if a score qualifies for credit, you can choose to forgo it.
You send the scores after matriculation. At that point, bad score would not hurt you at all although good score may get you credits.
