Is it customary to tell your teachers where you were accepted/denied if they wrote you a LoR?

(I wasn't sure what forum to put this in lol....)

Title says it all. Do I have to tell them "Hey I got denied" or nah? Because I can't imagine that not being an awkward and depressing conversation.

If you are accepted yes, but I’d avoid telling them you were deferred/denied if possible. No point in ruining your teacher’s day.

I think it is polite to let them know your results at the end of the process. You can just say, “Hey, I wanted to let you know I was accepted at <x, y,=”" and="" z="">". They can figure out the rest. One way to do this is to write them a thank you note or email at the end of your process. Also… some of your teachers may not even know or remember where you applied, since you probably just used the same letter for all your schools. But they do like to be thanked and to know how things ended up.</x,>

Thanks for the replies, that makes sense!
And yeah I’m definitely planning on writing them a thank you note :)
