Is it easier to get in if you're not majoring in the Sciences

Here is my previous post that has all my stats and stuff.

Quick Breakdown
690M, 650CR, 640W
100.2 GPA weighted
8 APs by the end of sen year
volunteer, job, clubs etc

If I wanted to major in economics would it be easier for me to get in? Because I know UR tends to attract more science majors

i had thought that too... but i was very interested to find out that the student body is pretty equally split between premed/ science majors and lib arts/ humanities majors. i don't think it matters that much either way.

yeah I read what percentage of kids major in each field on collegeboard...and 20% major in the Social Sciences. I felt kind of stupid because I just made this post. lol oh well

The stats you read on collegeboard etc are biased because they report the percentage breakdown for students who are at the end of their 2nd year (this is when you officially have to pick a major at UR.) MANY MANY people who come to UR as premeds change within their 1st and 2nd semester after realizing that they do not enjoy the sciences so much...and on the contrary, many people who came as SS will change to science/premed/etc.

What you want to major in has absolutely NO bearing on you chances of being accepted (with the exception of BME.) What really matters is you.

Hope this helps.
