Is it easier to get into UCLA in state or out of state?

I will be an out of state applicant who can pay full tuition. Does this increase or decrease my chances of being accepted? I’ve heard it’s harder to get in if I’m OOS but being full pay is helpful. Is this accurate?

See Table 2. Acceptance rate is higher for OOS students, 23% vs 16% in-state.

They don’t ask if you can pay full fees!

It’s all about stats. Those posted stats can be deceptive because it is based on the number of OOS applicants vs. acceptance. The UCs have thousands of applicants from instate and the stats have to be reported on those large numbers.
Here’s the admitted freshman profile for 2014: http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/adm_fr/Frosh_Prof14.htm
It will be $55K per year. You cannot gain instate residency status as an OOS student, so you parents are looking at $240K over four years.
