Is it hard to get into electives at U of Chicago as a freshman & sophomore?

I would like to be able to take electives as a freshman and sophomore, but I hear that juniors and seniors get priority. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into electives during your first 2 years? Is it true that you can get professors to make exceptions for you?

It’s not difficult at all. Or at least it shouldn’t be. If there is a class you want to take, even if the class is full, reach out to the professor and explain your interest and rationale for taking the class now. If she or he is impressed, you have a good chance of getting in.

Second-years actually get priority for art classes. I got into the Drama class as a second-year without pink-slipping. Use that to your advantage.
