I've always been an 'intermediate' friend maker and I'm not going to be living in a dorm. How hard is it to make friends in college? Since it's so big and everyone starts college with some friends right? So how hard is it? And when and where do you meet people if you don't live on campus? Any tips on how to meet new people?

It depends on the school and the situation.

Obviously, living in the dorms helps to expedite the process since you are surrounded by people that you see every day. If you are going to a large school you will see more people but get to know them less quickly than if you went to a small school where you will see the same people a lot more often.

Being a part of a group or club on campus will help you meet people and attend functions with the same people so you are familiar with them and comfortable around them. While the larger schools are harder to meet people, they also offer the most clubs which allow you to find a small group of people that share your same interests. As a result, with a little effort, you can get to know people well at both a small and large school. The key is getting out where other students will be so that you see them.
