Is it just me, or could you not imagine attending an online college?

I just can't ever see myself at an online college. Of course I want to go to college to learn, but I also want the experience. Same sort of thing with community colleges. Could you imagine going to a place like university of phoenix or something?
I also feel like if I were an employer, I would take the degree of someone from a small unknown college or even a community college more seriously then a degree from a for-profit like the university of phoenix.

I couldn’t imagine going to an online school either. Half of college is the experience. Yes, the main thing is learning, but it’s also about learning to live on your own, growing up, transitioning into adult life, and making friends and connections that will hopefully last throughout your life. So I couldn’t really imagine an online school either. I would be so bored!

Most people who study in online programs are older adults who are working. The format is more adaptable to a work schedule, but it requires a tremendous amount of self-discipline. If you can go to classes where you have face-to-face interaction with your classmates and instructor, I think that is preferable.

There’s a difference in starting college at 18 versus trying to finish a degree at 35. For a lot of people, going online is about getting a piece of paper for a promotion or a different job. It’s two very different situations. Ultimately, employers want to see that you made the most of your situation. Working full-time, supporting a family, and completing a degree tells a lot about a person.
