Okay, I REALLY need to know the deal with online schools like University of Phoenix and Kaplan University, and etc. because I will be finishing up my associates at a community college and a lot of people that i know, such as, my boyfriend, have been going to schools like that and they are really pusing the fact that i need to give this school a try. I have been doing my homework as far as the accredidations for these schools and i have actually called some employers and asked about the hiring process when it comes to which degrees they preferred. Well, I really would like some real people to give feedback about the new way of continued education.

There is a whole forum dedicated to Online Degrees. You can reach it by clicking on “Discussion Home” in the upper left of this screen, and then scrolling down. Here is a direct link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/online-degrees/

I’ve completed a professional certificate in education online. I found it very difficult to organize my time, and I missed the human interaction of a live classroom. However, I was able to take the courses one at a time, and I could fit my schoolwork around the rest of my life. If you do not have good study skills, and you can’t budget your time, online/distance may not be for you.

Personally, I don’t like U of Phoenix and Kaplan U because they are for-profit organizations. Many public universities (and some private ones as well) offer extensive online programs. Why not take a look at some of them? You could start with the UMUC

Good luck!

Thanks for the info
