Is it OK if my MIT essays overshoot by 10-15 words

I finished with all of them and some of them overshoot the word limit by about 10-15 words. Also when I save it doesn't say anything and in fact when I preview my application, all of the words in my essays are there.

Yet I am worried if it might have a negative effect in my application..

I believe it will stop you from submitting if you are over the limit.

I asked on the FAQ thread and mollieb said that they’d cut off, but apparently that’s not happening for you.

^ It used to be that the preview was exactly what the committee would see. This year, I believe that - even though the preview exists - you won’t be able to submit things that don’t meet the word count.

Hmm… But none of my words get cut off in the preview. Still I’ll tone them down, just to be on the safe side…

Thanks for all the info PiperXP, SuperCuber!

my app does the exact same thing too. It used to say I went over the word limit, but one day it just stopped so I also don’t know what to do either…

Actually, I’m not sure if that’s possible, but maybe they allowed the number of words to exceed a little (…to make it less annoying? xD)?

One of my essays is exactly 250 words. I wrote additional 10-15 and it still let me save. But when I “posted” the essay twice (500 words) it did say I went over the limit…
