Hey all, my question is exactly what I said in the title: is it okay to exclude a school I attended from transcript, if I give up the credits?

I messed up for a semester in one school in spring semester of 2010, because of some problems between me and the administrators of the school. It wasn't me being unreasonable, and the highest (the director) person of the administration actually got fired. I moved the school after then, and I've been getting very good grades (never under A-) in a boarding school. I repeated a year, so I will have more than enough credits when I graduate. My friend, who struggled from the same administrators too, also moved out from there and had a successful school life in another school and got into a very competitive undergrad. She said she excluded the record from the old school, instead of giving up the credits from there.

My school's on break, but I'm so curious right now. I will ask my college counselor when she comes back, but I just want to know if there is any other person who left a school or a whole semester out from transcript in return of giving up credits. I googled, and I only get answers for the grad school applications.. They say it varies by grad schools, but I wanna know how it works for undergrad schools. Anyone has an idea or a same kind of experience?

p.s. I know UC schools require official high school transcript from all high schools attended, but I'm not planning to apply for UC.

Technically you are required to submit ALL transcripts from every school you’ve ever attended. You can choose to not send in that one school (and of course you’d be giving up the credits), but if you get caught the school has grounds to rescind their admission or impose whatever other sanction they decide is appropriate. I doubt they do database searches to check if you’ve left something out (but I don’t know this for sure) … I’m guessing it’s more likely that they find out because someone notifies them.

What class was it and what grade did you get? Also, what grade were you in? How will you explain the gap in schooling?

It was in 9th grade, but as yous see, I repeated it so I have been in school for three years (and I’m in junior) even without that record. I don’t see schools other than UC that actually says they require “official high school transcript from all high schools attended,” but maybe because it was lack of my research. My academic dean from that school and the teachers whom I took the classes from are willing to write letter about my grade, but still it pushes my GPA really low. And I did poorly on all of them, I had a struggle with the admins because of my sexual preference 24/7 basis (it wasn’t a day school), so it was impossible to focus on studying.

p.s. I asked my friend, and she said she did include the school’s name but not the grade, and got a letter from teachers saying that it is unfair to include this grade in GPA for this and that reasons. Do any of you guys had the same or similar situation? Thanks.

Some universities do research applicants (really don’t know if there’s a database or what). But I had forgotten to mention or send a transcript from a school that I’d taken vocational classes at many years ago to one of the schools I applied to and they later requested it specifically from me. They weren’t upset luckily, but as mentioned above it technically could be grounds for rescinding admission or other action.
