So my current GPA is 3.4 (weighted), and I know my schedule and grades are pretty lackluster, but I was just wondering what you all think about my chances of getting into a UC.
I originally wanted to go to a university such as UCLA, UCSD, or UCI, but I’m pretty sure my GPA is way to low to get accepted into these amazing schools. I didn’t realize how important my schedule/grades were until this year. I wanted to have an easier senior schedule, because my current schedule stresses me out so much that I’ve noticed myself having more anxiety than I can handle right now. I think taking 3 APs when I’ve never even set foot in an Honors/AP class was a huge mistake on my part.

Overall, do I even have a chance to get into a UC? I would like some feedback and suggestions that would help me with my educational journey. If I don’t get into a UC right away, I’ll just go to community and transfer, but I would really like to hear your opinions on my high school career/UC acceptance chance.

Thank you so, so much for reading!

Also, I forgot to add that I wanted to become a psychiatrist (due to the fact that I’m fascinated with mental illnesses, and want to help victims of these), or a canine/feline vet, because learning about cat/dogs also fascinate me so much!

Yes

You have very good chances at UCR/UCM and UCSC. UCI/UCSB/UCD would be more difficult and UCSD/UCB and UCLA would be reaches. Your GPA will hurt you for the Mid to Upper Tier UC’s but your SAT is very competitive.

what is your UC GPA? That’s what the UCs use for admissions purposes. I think that you have a good shot at UCR and UCM. UCLA, UCB, UCSD, and probably UCI are high reaches. UCSB, UCD, and UCSC are low reaches.
Have you considered a CSU? Many of them are comparable/better than UCR and UCM, and have excellent psychology programs.
With that being said, however, who knows? You could get into any of these schools if you have good essays or some other sort of hook. You never know until you apply.

For your majors, I would think that UCD would be the place to go! Or to be a veterinarian, maybe Moorpark College for 2 years (they have a zoo), then UC Davis.

UC GPA is based on 10th and 11th grade classes. It is worth calculating that (as noted above).

Your future is not at all bleak.

I thought OP wanted psychiatry vs. psychology.

OP can do undergrad psychology and then med school for psychiatry. I don’t believe that there is a psychiatry major, but I could be wrong.
