UCB/UCLA: Match

I don't really know what that means...like 50% shot?

good chances at both

A "match" means you have a good shot, cal_wannabe. I would have to agree (having spent A LOT of time thinking about those schools myself!). Keep in mind that you are a California resident, which ups your chances even more. Also, are you ELC? That would improve the odds, as well.

I wouldnt stress if I were you, you'll definately get into at least one of them.

unfortunately no i'm not elc, but i go to a really tough highschool and am top 10%...i heard that uc's know about our school and rank it like as the 3rd best high school in CA (and the best public school) so they know our grading is tough

thanks tivesrx, that's what my friends keep telling me. hopefully the 15th will be a day of relief

Yes, I've read that schools only consider your rank in light of your community circumstances - and you must be very accomplished to rank so high in what is obviously a competetive environment. Don't stress too much, Cal. You'll know soon enough, and I'm sure you won't be disappointed by the results. ( :

ELC is mainly for people who come from bad high schools. Gives them a leg up on people who have had a lot of preparation for tests and applications. Which school do you want to go to more. UCLA puts more weight on GPA, where you have a 4.3 (almost max you can get) from a well known high school. Berkeley puts weight on tests where you got 800 on math

i'd prefer to go to berkeley if you can tell by my name :) my parents are for la since its closer to home--but i love berkeley

What major did you apply as. If it was anything other than engineering i'd say guarenteed acceptance to both. If it is engineering you'll have a lot easier time getting into UCLA and CAL. But you still have a good chance even if it was engineering.

who cares, theyre both lame...u should have applied to amherst

political science for berkeley
econ/intl studies for la

thanks for the boost in confidence tivesrx :)

Thats odd that your applying for Political science even though you got an 800 on the math. I thought it was going to be some sort of science or math major.

i'm really bad at science. i'm good at history and math so i'll probably do economics with a minor in political science or a double-major. i just thought maybe polsci would be easier to get into than econ...

Your probably right

bro you look fine. yah im wiggin out too about UCB. I cant wait any longer.
