Is it possible to bring ACT test up? How?

I studied for my ACT and took multiple practice tests and always got the same score. Sure enough took the actual ACT and got the same score. The weird part is I did better in science than normal but worse in english so it averaged out. Has anyone been successful getting their scores up maybe 2-4 points? How?

D16 was able to get her score up 3 points from December to June of junior year. Although she did practice, it wasn’t extensive. IMO, just the extra 6 months of maturity, and hs education got the score up. If you’re a junior now, I’d wait until the fall to take it again. If you’re a sophomore, I’d wait until spring of junior year.

Yes I’m a junior and would take a fall test.

Look over your score report, if available, to find out what information gave you trouble. Study that information as well as any areas you find shaky. Time as pointed out may well improve your score as you have been in school longer…

Are you actively reviewing the questions you miss and then reworking them the correct way?

D raised her math score by 3 points and her English by 5 points by doing this:

Studying a chapter in E. Meltzer’s ACT English book; then taking a section test from the REAL ACT Red Book
-reviewed questions she got wrong and actively read and reworked them again.

Studied a chapter (will have to get the name of the book) in one of the ACT math review books; took a section test and reviewed those she got wrong…

When she came on sections she was consistently getting wrong she cried mercy and we got her to a tutor. This happened like twice. One hour with the tutor and she was good to go on that concept.

Also…don’t underestimate the power of the ACT Online PREP. My D said it was fantastic…tons and tons of problems. The sheer repetition alone I know brought her up a few points.

I agree with the other posters if you can get your score results and review where you can improve. Also with my daughter it helped her to have the practice tests through the “Red Book” and we used the “Black Book” to go along with the practice tests to get pointers where she was getting hung up. She focused on reading and science and brought her score up 3 points…enough to reach a higher scholarship…yes it can be done and good luck!!
