Is it possible to submit a late application to Cornell (partly due to mental illness)?

Is there any possible way to submit an application to Cornell late (today, January 11th and the deadline was Jan 2 or 1st)? I am planning on calling the admissions office and asking and I am able to blame the reason on mental illness. Would they allow a late submission?

The first issue is to get your illness treated effectively. Everything else is way less important. Are you being treated? How is it going?

Cornell will still be there a year from now or two years from now.

No one here can answer your question. Do call the admissions office, but I would also speak with your HS GC and see if it makes more sense for them to call.

Good luck, and take care of yourself.

Thank you for your concern I really appreciate it. I am in recovery now and am doing well which has reopened my possibility of going to college but also caused me to get a very late jump on the application process.

Cornell had extended its RD deadline from January 2, 2021 to January 8, 2021. Scroll to about mid page of the following:
https://blogs.cornell.edu/admissions/2020/12/21/a-note-to-regular-decision-applicants-from-the-director-of-admissions/
“…Applications submitted on the days following January 2 will be happily received, processed, and reviewed by our admission committees along with all other Regular Decision applications. If an application arrives to us before and by January 8, students do not need to contact us and they will not need to request a formal extension.…”
To me, it implies there is an avenue for a formal extension request; however, as others said, your well-being is of the utmost importance to you. Please take care.
