Hi everyone. So I messed up pretty bad. I am planning on applying to Cornell. I have the test scores, grades, class rank, etc to have a significant chance of being accepted. But within the past 2 weeks, my father and sister came down with COVID. It’s been a lot and when I was going over my Common App, I read the regular decision deadline wrong. I thought it was January 15th like all of my other schools, but in reality it was January 2nd. 3 days ago. Is there any chance they will even look at my application? Accept me? Is this worth mentioning in my application?
I’m so sorry, I hope your father and sister feel better soon. I definitely think you should submit your application anyways, and reach out to an admissions counselor there or mention it on your application. It doesn’t hurt to try, and hopefully they will be understanding. Wishing you the best!
Wasn’t the deadline extended to Jan 8?

You have time. Best if luck.
Applications submitted on the days following January 2 will be happily received, processed, and reviewed by our admission committees along with all other Regular Decision applications. **If an application arrives to us before and by January 8, students do not need to contact us and they will not need to request a formal extension.
They were taking them until 1/8 so hopefully you got it in. If not, then you’re SOL. Hope your family is feeling better.
