Is it possible to transfer as a community college student?

Hi guys.

I am currently going to a cc in California, and Barnard looks very appealing. Do cc transfers have a chance?

My current college GPA: 3.8
My major: English

I took a course at UC Berkeley this past year (which I got an A in), and I liked it, but it was an extremely large school, so I was hoping for a more personal environment.

I also have a professor, who really supports me and has helped me over the year. She went to Barnard, and she is willing to write me an awesome letter of rec and help me with my application.

Does Barnard highly use my SAT scores to determine my admittance even though I have been at community college for some time?

Thanks guys!

I really have no personal experience with transfers…I am the parent of a Barnard graduate. But I should think that CC transfers definitely have a “chance” for admission, and the fact that you have a Barnard alum who is willing to work with you on your application can only help. If I had to “guess” (and it’s ONLY a guess), Barnard will put more weight on your grades and experiences since you started college than standardized test scores. Best to you!!

Did you get in?
